Synopsis via Goodreads
Restless souls and empty hearts

Brooklyn can't sleep. Her boyfriend, Lucca, died only a year ago, and now her friend Gabe has just died of an overdose. Every time she closes her eyes, Gabe's ghost is there waiting for her. She has no idea what he wants or why it isn't Lucca visiting her dreams.

Nico can't stop. He's always running, trying to escape the pain of losing his brother, Lucca. But when Lucca's ghost begins leaving messages, telling Nico to help Brooklyn, emotions come crashing to the surface.

As the nightmares escalate and the messages become relentless, Nico reaches out to Brooklyn. But neither of them can admit that they're being haunted. Until they learn to let each other in, not one soul will be able to rest.

Noteworthy Passages

Nico; pg. 100
Another long run,
hoping to put distance
between me
and everything else.
The farther,
the better.
Only problem is,
the distance is just temporary,
Because no matter how far I go,
I always have to come back.

Nico; pg. 169
We're running the track
and I can't help but think
it feels like
she's running from something.
Or someone.
I glance behind us.
But of course, nothing's there.
After all,
aren't the scariest things in life
those things you can't see?

Brooklyn; pg. 275
She leaves,
and I stand there,
studying myself in the mirror.

I look okay.
Good even.

My reflection tells one story.
My heart, a different one.

The difference is,
hearts don't lie.
Mirrors do.

Nico; pg. 344
The hours crawl
like time has decided to slow down
and take a vacation.
I go to the pool before school,
the water especially cold this morning,
matching the temperature of my heart.
I miss her.
There's no confusion there.
As to what to do about it,
that's another story.

These are just a few of the beautiful passages from Chasing Brooklyn that stood out to me. The third one most of all because back before this book was ever published, I had written a poem that that passage really reminded me of.

To learn more on my thoughts of Chasing Brooklyn, you can read my Review. As always thanks for stopping by and comments are appreciated. :D

PLEASE NOTE: This is a feature hosted here at my blog in which I present you with selected passages or quotes that I deem Noteworthy from a book I've just reviewed. My hopes are of course, that these passages will make you want to pick the book up and read it. This feature was started and created by me in January in hopes of making my blog more unique. That being said, I would like to kindly request that you do not use this feature as it was intended to be for my blog only and is not a meme. If you see some one else using it, please know it is without my permission. Thank you.
