Blogger Interview: Jenn from Book Crazy

Name: Jennifer, Jenn for short – I like using 2 n's it's the most unique way I can spell it after all.
Alias: Jenn in my “regular” life with most people, Jenny to my dad (ONLY), Book Crazy to my blogging buddies, and Fingers To Toes in my life as a photographer
Age: I am an old lady, actually just figured out last night my last birthday I turned 33...EAK!
Blog: Book Crazy

TBP: Tell us a little bit about your blog.

BC: I mostly blog about YA Literature...I love it, as Jami over at YA Addict say's “I have to grow up but my book's don't have to” I love that! I also have a feature that I started to highlight and spot light other bloggers called Music Monday, and another feature on Friday's where I spotlight my favorite authors called Friday Fav.'s.

TBP: Did you always love to read, if so why do you think that is? OR Was reading an interest that developed for you at a certain time in your life, if so please explain?

BC: No, actually I did not love to read in High School, I hated it actually, reading all those “mandatory” books, I always felt like I did not understand – in turn I felt pretty stupid. It was not until I got my hands on Harry Potter, Twilight and The Stand that I started to come to understand that not all books out there are created equal, and there was some that I not only be able to understand but also LOVE! My real passion for it came from the feeling of escape I found while reading Twilight, I wanted to capture that again and again!

TBP: What is a YA book that you have read and absolutely loved but few people know about?

BC: That's hard there's several that I love, I have a passion for Indie authors it seems, and most of my favorites are not “main streamed” - The Light of Asteria by Elizabeth Isaacs is one, so is Promise by Kristie Cook is another (though it's more for older teen's), Awakened by Ednah Walters was really amazing too! At first I was worried about reading indie books, but now I find I love nearly everyone I take the chance on!

TBP: What are three books that you are most anxiously awaiting the release for?

BC: Whisper of Light (Light, #2) by Jennifer DeLucy

The Secret of the Keepers: Kailmeyra's Strength (Kailmeyra, #2) by Elizabeth Isaacs

Betrayed (The Guardian Legacy, #2) by Ednah Walters

And one more Purpose (Soul Savers, #2) by Kristie Cook :)

TBP: If you were to start a blog about something else in your life besides reading, what would it be?

BC: I actually have another blog, it's my photography website that I don't update like I should and it's located at Fingers to Toes

TBP: What are some of your favorite book blogs and why?

BC: Another hard question I LOVE Jami from YA Addict, Liz from Cleverly Inked, and Reggie from The Undercover Book Lover – though there are so many I look up to and respect, with over 400 blogs in my google reader (all of them book related) it's hard to narrow it down!

TBP: What all does being a book blogger mean to you?

BC: The book blogging community has opened it's arms to me. I found a home in which I feel content and safe, the people are amazing and the reviews are beyond belief. I am honestly humbled and honored to be part of it all!

TBP: Zombies are taking over the world and it is up to you to stop them. You can choose ANY three people to help you fight them off and one supernatural power? Who do you pick and which power?

BC: HECK YES!!! I always wanted to have a Super Power! I think I shall start with that first, I want to be able to turn invisible – how cool would that be? You really could go anywhere! As for my 3 co-horts, I think I would want to take Gavin and Nora from The Light of Asteria with me, and maybe Christian from Seers of Light...gotta have some kick butt boys on the team, but also another girl gotta have someone to go pee with, after all!

TBP: You murdered a celebrity. Who was it and why?

BC: Can I pick Justin Bieber? That kid is weird and he kinda sings like a girl, though I would never want to kill anyone, promise!

TBP: As part of a secret initiation, you are blind folded and told to run. What happens when you do?

BC: I run head first into the nearest tree and knock myself out...I have horrible balance AND absolutely NO sense of direction, this makes for NOT such a pretty picture in this synerio I am afraid!

TBP: If you could turn into any animal, which animal would it be and why?

BC: A Unicorn, I have had an unhealthy obsession with Unicorns ever since I can remember, I have several all over my room, sleep with a pillow that's been custom made for me, and wear one my daughter bought for me when she was 3, around my neck everyday.

TBP: Where do you see yourself ten years from now?

BC: Married, maybe another child, happy – with a 21 year old and a 17 year old – EAK, I am SO not ready for that!

TBP: Anything else you'd like to add?

BC: Thanks for having me!

  1. On Justin Beiber: "He's a 17 year old boy, who looks like a 12 year old boy, who sings like a 12 year old girl."

Thanks for the interview! Geez, you reminded me of The Light of Asteria! I've gotta keep my love for it alive. :)

  3. Great interview! As an author, I am just as intrigued by bloggers as bloggers are about authors, because we all share a passion for stories. Jenn is awesome...people who haven't checked out her blog should go take a look!
